After much (rush) work the new shop for the Fruity One online retailer based on the CubeCart eccommerce system is now online.

The client had a previous shopping system which had a few problems and needed to be withdrawn as a matter of urgency. We chose the CubeCart solution for the client based upon modules and ease of use for the client. It now has all their products installed and a simular look to the original site. We have further graphical work to be done in the next week but needed to replace the cart so it is now online.

There were some unusual aspects to this system. Part of the goods sold were perishable and this restricted the delivery system, also Free local delivery was offered. We had to write some custom modules to work out which specific postcodes were free and not to offer national delivery options for those but to also offer special same delivery as well.

Then the rest of the postcodes only have either standard next day delivery or special before 12 Saturday delivery. We have implemented these modules and tested to client satisfaction.

A further development we did was to allow use of postcodes with or with out spaces, upper or lower case. For those who use carts that generally are originally written for the US market (Zip Codes) will know how hard it can be in the UK especially when you need to utilise the postcode for as in this case different delivery routines.

Our code for this is now available for other clients and we will continue to use Cube Cart untill our Software Division has completed work on its own custom ecommerce system.
