Miss Dee whose real name is Victoria Emma Davies was born in Whitehaven on the West Cumbrian coast in 1983. She has lived locally for most of her 23 years, although she did spend a short time in Manchester.
Miss Dee attended St. James’ infant school in Whitehaven, Harecroft Hall School in Seascale, St. Bees School and for her sixth form she went to The Nelson Thomlinson School in Wigton. Whilst passing her GCSE’s and ‘A’ levels and being offered a place at University, Miss Dee’s great love has been music.
The first time Miss Dee sang in public was at Gosforth church when she sang a solo verse of ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ at Harecroft Hall carol service. Her father who was an athletics coach took her to Tenerife one February with his athletes who were undergoing warm weather training. In a small village called Callao Salvaje she sang in a karaoke bar and wowed the locals. The DJ encouraged her and advised her and the following year she received a booking from another bar in the village. When she returned back to the UK she was accepted by the Andy Park agency based in Carlisle and sang in pubs and clubs throughout Cumbria and South West Scotland.
Miss Dee is now well known locally and has entertained guests at many weddings. She has sung at Whitehaven Rugby League ground before and after games. In fact she sang at the Championship party during the 2005-6 campaign and at both play-off finals.
Another great achievement was being asked to sing at a Coca-Cola Championship football match between Preston North End and Wolverhampton Wanderers on Easter Monday 2006. “It was a great feeling to sing in front of 17,000 fans. I thought I would be nervous, but I was inspired. It is a moment I will never forget”.
More recently she entertained a packed audience at the end of the Maryport Blues Festival.
Her current CD, ‘Paradise’ is selling well and she hopes to make another fairly soon.
